Via Boing Boing.

Let us give a 21-Proton Gun salute to SF Grand Master Jack Williamson, who passed away today at the age of 98. Williamson was an incredibly productive writer who was first published in 1928 and whose last novel was published just last year.

My favorites from his oeuvre are the Legion of Space series (great pulpy adventures that any fan of Star Blazers should love) and the robot dystopia novel The Humanoids; he also wrote great short stories like “Jamboree” and “Darker Than You Think”. Rest in Peace, and thanks for the wonderful stories.
